"Our King"

Watercolour on paper
28.5 x 39 cm.  (11.2" x 15.3")

To create a softer image of His Majesty I explored the uncertain and beautiful effects of watercolors on English paper. First,
I wet the paper and then dropped the color to let it spread before using tissue paper to blot and move the colors around the paper.
This is a personal technique I developed to create a spontaneous and fresh feeling that watercolors produce on
a portrait. I used this in an informal picture of The King to show his gentle nature.
